The effect of Scapula setting intervention on the function of upper extremity and walking in the patients with stroke

Abstract
|
|
|
Background and Purpose: This study examines the function of scapula setting intervention and its effect on stroke patients’
upper limbs’ functions and walking function on the basis of rehabilitation remedy.
Subjects and Methods: The case study was performed for 16 stroke patients. The experimental group of patients were selected on the following basis. Patients understood doctors’ directions well, and were able to walk without any help along a stretch of more than 10 meters. they had no functional limit in their upper limb region. The patients of the control group had had general therapy once a week, for 30 minutes, up to a total of 15 times for 3 weeks.
Results: The results were as following ; 1) The hemiplegia patients of the experimental group had enhanced their upper limbs’ functions after scapula setting(p<.05). 2) Scapula setting intervention had helped the hemiplegia patients in the experimental group with their faster walking speed(p<.05). 3) scapula setting intervention had helped the hemiplegia patients in the experimental group with their increase walking ability(p=.001).
Conclusion: The research results thus indicate that scapula setting intervention helps stroke patients enhance upper limb as well as posture control functions. We can thereby conclude this technique will again in the future be very useful for stroke patients in this context.
